HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

if you follow along on twitter or Facebook you'll know that i've just come back from a week in Ireland where I attended Showcase Ireland, Ireland's creative expo held in Dublin every January. as well as catching up with family and friends the purpose of the trip was to source gorgeous things and meet Irish designers whose work I am interested in adding to an online store that i am hoping to launch this summer. yep, you may also have noticed the shop mod erin tab at the top of the page that i added as an incentive for me to persue this dream. once you have said it out loud it becomes a reality and so there, i've said it and now you know it so wish me luck and watch this space. i promise to keep you informed. Showcase was a great opportunity to 'say it out loud' many times. it was also great to meet some of the designers i have previously featured on the blog and to see and hold their products in my hands. they are all just as nice as i had imagined and the designers equally so.

the highlight for me was definitely the HOME display (pictured above), a special display of home and giftware products, selected by a panel of industry specialists. this display featured the work of some of the best contemporary Irish makers and designers who were also part of 'a place to gather' specially commissioned by the Crafts Council of Ireland for the exhibition of Irish furniture and homewares at London Design Week 2012.

an amazing week.....but its good to come home. yes, i said home, that is where the heart is after all. armed with oodles of notes and expo literature i am working on a Showcase round up post for Thursday, do join me then...i promise it will be worth the wait and full of gorgeous things.
