the long walk Galway
Gala Tomasso studied art in England before joining her family in Co Galway. After receiving higher
diploma in fine art at the beautiful Burren college of art she went on to take a masters in design from D.I.T. in Dublin. her collection Gala loves Galway includes drawings well known buildings and streets from around the city. they make me smile wide when i look at them and make my heart skip a little.
she says ;
"Art and drawing have always been a very strong part of my life and from a very early age I wanted to follow in my grandparents foot steps by studying art. Places are an inspiration for me and it's only when I get to know a place that i feel like i can draw it right. I start with paper and pencil,
then ink and I often finish work digitally......

I try to find the humour and the true personality of the things that I draw, but I realise that this 'personality' is only in my own perception. I want to put my pictures on things that people will use."
ard bia at nimmos
for those of you who are lucky enough to be in or around Galway you can see these drawings exhibited in Ard Bia at Nimmos, a restaurant which in my opinion is the best place to eat in Galway and needs blogging about another time, or you can pop over to see more of Gala's drawings on her Facebook page here.
sigh....i love Galway x

Sigh ... how pretty. I love all the doodles Erin.
ReplyDeleteIt would make me homesick if I were not already right here at home xx
hi Mona, they do make a little sad and homesick when i look at them but they do bring some lovely memories back too !
Deleteard bia @ nimmos was the first place I stopped to visit on my first trip to Co Galway. Hands down, my favorite place in Galway for so many reasons...the incredible art & pieces of furniture that provide the atmosphere, the fresh eclectic food choices that brings new meaning to trying something new, the friendships created by the art of hello's and continued conversations. Add it all up and you have a recipe for the warmest & most welcoming place, so intoxicating, you wish you were back there, sitting at the counter reminiscing...luckily for me I have a particular mug that takes me back to that very moment...
ReplyDeleteohhh you have Ard Bia to a tee ! I loved having lunch or tea from their great big teapots ! It was home from home and they food .........ahhh I am drooling as I type !
